Ponni Rice is the most commonly used rice variety in South India, specifically in Tamil Nadu.
The ponni boiled(parboiled) rice is a white, short-grained rice that contains more nutritious value than normal white rice.

Ponni rice is used for making white rice. Because of its aroma and taste it goes well with sambar, rasam, curry.
